I was downtown today doing research at the Library of Congress. After I was done with my research, I thought I would go to the Botanical Gardens on the mall and take some pretty flower pictures for practice. The ladies at the front desk said that I should take a picture of a tree frog sitting on one of the leaves by a huge palm tree. I had set up my tripod, had only taken two photos and was looking through the viewfinder at the frog when I heard a huge crash right by my head, nearly collapsing the tripod. I look over and an actual piece of the palm tree fell off and landed about 6 in. away from my head! It must have weighed at least 15 to 20 lbs and actually broke one of the tripod legs. I was shaking so bad when I realized how close I had come to being knocked unconscious or worse, I had to sit down for a minute. The poor ladies at the front desk apologized and said that they would pay for the damage. But holy freakin' cow!
